For the first time in months, the sun shone down in Manchester, just in time for the 9th annual Manchester Touch Championships.
15 teams battled it out over the course of the day, with Alpha Wolf beating Nottingham 6-2 in an exhilarating final to take the overall Cup title.
Manchester Chargers entered 2 teams – the Turbo Chargers and Super Chargers – with a mixture of fresh meat and old(er) hands making up the numbers. They progressed well through group stages to opposite Plate semi-finals, where unfortunately both teams just missed out to Old Wesley Touch and Percy Park Pirates respectively.
Stand out players of the tournament for Turbo Chargers were Gregg Cropper (MVP) and Jonnie Horton (Most Improved), and for Super Chargers (Photo above), Sammy Kiernan (MVP) and Sam Thorpe (Most Improved) made an impression.
It was a great start to the touch season, and Chargers now look forward to the start of the Elite Championships, with the first NTS and DTS competitions around the corner.
